Netinfo

UBC Vancouver students are eligible for a free Netinfo account, which includes:

A Netinfo email account with 120 MB of mailbox space
20 hours of dial-up Internet access service each 30 days
Support via the web and the IT Service Centre Help Desk

You can also upgrade your account by purchasing any of the following options:

Dial-in time	$1.00 per hour (minimum five hour purchase) Any extra dial-in time you purchase carries over until you use it up. Purchase online
Mailbox	$1.25 per 10 megabytes for each thirty-day interval.
Dormant account	$2.50 per 30-day period (all other account fees are waived during this dormant period) This option lets your account continue to receive e-mail after you leave UBC, although you will not be able to log into Netinfo to read it. However, you can forward your Netinfo e-mail to another e-mail account (e.g. with another service provider), giving you time to notify friends, family and colleagues of your change in e-mail address. Alternatively, you can purchase an Interchange Alumni account, which gives you a full set of Internet services, and allows you to keep your Netinfo e-mail address.

Note: Your Netinfo account expires in mid-November of the year you graduate.

How to order account options

By phone, contact the Accounts department. Phone orders can only be made via credit card. Cash and debit payments must be made in person.

In person, come to room 420 of the L.S. Klinck Building. Hours of operation are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

Online ordering is available for extra mailbox space.

Interchange

If you need significantly more dial-in time or mailbox space than is provided with your Netinfo account, you may find it more cost-effective to purchase an Interchange account. Your username, password and e-mail address on Interchange will be the same as that on Netinfo. However, the dial-in number used to access Interchange is different.

Interchange Packages & Rates

Our basic Interchange service is called Express - it features dial-in access, an e-mail account and free technical support. A variety of Express packages and additional package options are available for UBC faculty, staff and students.

Rates are subject to applicable taxes. Rates are subject to change without notice. Unused dial-in time does not carry over to the next thirty-day interval. However, any extra dial-in time you purchase (see Options below) carries over until used up. If you have both a Netinfo and an Interchange account, you will have 320 MB of mailbox space (120 MB from Netinfo and 200 MB from Interchange).

If the services provided with your account do not completely meet your needs, you can customize your account with additional options at any time during the subscription period. However, if you find you need significantly more dial-in time or mailbox space than is provided with your account, it may be more cost-effective to upgrade to a higher level of package (e.g. from Express 5 to Express 20).

Billing - When you purchase an Interchange Express package, you can choose the convenience of being billed every 30 days. Alternatively, for greater savings, Interchange packages may be purchased at a discount for a full 360-day subscription period. You can pay for services with VISA, MasterCard, debit card, cash deposit or, if you are purchasing for a UBC department, a journal voucher. You can cancel any of these services at any time; however, if you purchase a 360-day subscription and you cancel it early, you will be subject to a small redemption fee.
